My kids have been sick.
Karson was the high fever, glassy-eyed kind of sick.
I liked it.
He just laid on the couch in and out of sleep. Watching Jake and the Neverland Pirates (his new favorite) and snuggling with his dear ole' Mom.
Kamden on the other hand, was not the kind of sick I like. While, he had the high fever glassy-eyed business going on too. He also got to coughing so hard he would vomit. A lot.
16 month olds and vomit don't mix very well.
You don't really know when it's coming and they don't really have any aim. So you just kind of hold them out over an easily cleanable surface. If you get lucky you might be able to hit a well placed towel.
I learned that chunky milk vomit is really hard to get out of the teeny-tiny cracks in our wood floors.
Thinking the boys were on the mend, we took off and went to a hotel over the weekend to hang out and swim with some of the family. All was going fine, granted the boys were a little cranky, but nothing to unusual. While in the room, we were munching on some goodies. Kamden really liked some rice-crispy-type bar that my mom brought and ate like 5 of them. Thanks Grandma.
Fast forward an hour or so, we headed to the pool. Which was an adventure to get to, that included an elevator, skywalk, and spiral staircase. My dad was carrying Kamden, I was carrying all the pool gear and Dustin was chasing after Karson.
Kamden started to cough. See where this is heading?
Kamden coughed and coughed. We were just getting to the pool door when he started to puke.
All.
Over.
Grandpa.
Remember those rise-crispy-bar-things? Yeah, so does my dad.
It was a lot of puke too.
So, we had to make the long trek back to the room to clean everyone up. Fun.
I was hesitant on letting Kamden swim after the puking incident, but I was sure it was from the coughing so I let him. I know I probably shouldn't have, but he loved it. And believe me, there was more than enough chlorine in the pool to kill any and all lingering bacteria.
That was the only sickness of the weekend thank goodness.
Now we're gearing up for Kamden's tubes on Tuesday. Wish us luck.

30 by 30
This is (the beginning of) my 30 by 30 list. Thirty things I'd like to do before I turn Thirty.
1. Work on handwriting - I have the sloppiest handwriting. I write like a man.
2. Learn to drive a stick - Have never learned how and would like to.
3. Family vacation to California - To visit family, go to Disney and Universal, play on the beach
4. Run a 5K
5. Skydive
6. Have a daughter - Oh, how I want a girl.
7. Be debt free, except mortgage, with a fully funded emergency fund, and be putting 15% of income into retirement - want to start off my Thirties with money to play. I follow Dave Ramsey, can you tell?
8. Make a will - Probably should have had this figured out already.
9. Start kids college funds - Probably should have had this started already too.
10. Re-do landscaping around the house - Lets face it. What we got now ain't workin'. Dustin is ripping everything out this spring anyway so I guess I'm going to have to do something.
11. Pave the driveway - I hate the mud pit we've got now. Plus, it will give the boys some more bike riding room.
12. Take a train through the mountains - Any mountains. They boys will love it.
13. Take a trip out of the country - We're thinking someplace in Mexico. One of those all inclusive resorts.
14. Get a Kitchen Aid mixer - I want one of these so bad. Dustin told be to just go buy one. Maybe he should take the hint...
15. Get LASIK - I hate not being able to see!
To be continued...

Parenting is funny, even when it sucks
Lately, I've noticed more and more just how funny this parenting gig can be. Even when I'm in the middle of punishing my kids I find it hard not to laugh.
Usually, it becomes funny when I'm disciplining Karson and I catch a glimpse of Dustin laughing out of the corner of my eye (usually because of something Karson did or said during me explaining why he's in timeout). Sometimes I can't help, but chuckle. Which ruins my big-bad-mom-discipline-moment. Sometimes I play it off like I'm so upset I'm crying, not laughing. Which is really quite effective. Karson is very protective of his Mama, so he hates to see me cry.
Being a parent is hard, so I appreciate when we can make light of an unideal situation.
Here's another funny for you...

Umm...yeah. That's underwear on their heads. You can thank Gma Beth for that lovely trick. I told Karson it kind of goes with his racing suit. It looks like the thing race car drivers wear under their helmet.
My boys <3
Kamden has been thinking he's hot stuff lately. I put his booster seat on the chair at the counter so he can be where the action is.
Back in his highchair for spaghetti. Even the highchair is covered in it's nastiness. Check out those mean scrapes on his nose. He did that to himself when he put a basket on his head and ran into a wall. Real smart, Kamden. Real smart.

What color?
What color siding should we go with?
Currently the house is painted pretty much exactly the same as the blue-ish color, with white trim. While I don't mind it, I don't love it.
Three of the houses Dustin has finished recently have been this same blue-ish color. He really likes it on the new houses, but is ready for a change on ours.
I'm leaning towards the greenish-brown-tan color. It doesn't look that green until you hold it up next to the brown. We like the darker colors, they contrast nicely with the white trim.
I like this one...Arbor Blend. There is a house in town that is this color (we ran up to it with the sample) and I really like it.
It sounds like we are going to buy a quart of paint in each of these colors and paint a section of the house or garage (which will need to be painted anyway) and see what we like in a bigger quantity.
This a big decision and I'm so scared I'm going to regret whatever color we choose. Gah!!!
