I am so excited to see Karson's reaction to Santa!!! I am having so much fun now that my Christmas shopping is done, because now I say, "Oh, maybe Santa will bring you a remote control Lightning McQueen." Or "Maybe Santa will bring you a Lightning McQueen toothbrush." My plan is to keep receipts and if he isn't thrilled with something I'm going to hide it and take it back. We really got him more than he needed. We got a few little fun things and outfits for Kamden and I may wrap up some diapers. We have to make it look like Santa brought Kamden stuff too.
Kamden has been smiling up a storm. He is so stinking cute and such a good baby. I can't wait till he is just a little bit older and can 'play' some. Karson has been unintentionally hurting Kamden. He'll throw something and accidently hit Kamden in the head. I got really mad the other day and told Karson I don't want him to touch Kamden until he's old enough to fight back. One of these days (like next year) Karson is in for a big suprise when Kamden halls of and tackles him or hits back.
I hope the weather holds out so we can keep all our Christmas plans. If not we'll get to spend Christmas at home in our PJ's.

Blizzard 09'
We've had our first big storm of the season. A foot of snow and 35-40 mph winds. We lost power twice, it was fantastic. Karson now likes candles going all the time for fear that the lights will go out. He also gets mad that we won't turn the Christmas lights back on. LOL. The only time I started freaking out was when I needed to pump and didn't have any power to do it. I tried to nurse Kamden, but he had eaten recently and wasn't having it. Luckily the power only stayed out for about an hour or so each time.
Going to get the kids pictures taken with Preston and Klohe and go to Chuck E Cheese tomorrow. Then, we have Kamden's baptism on Sunday. Busy weekend. I really need to clean the house!!!

Stutterer
The other day I thought Karson was stuttering. I made him repeat what he was saying four or five times. Then I realized he wasn't stuttering he was saying Dora like the show. The theme song goes 'Do-do-do-do-do-Dora'!!!! How funny! I laughed so hard once I figured it out.
Karson has been such a good big brother. Now when Kamden cries he'll either grab his bottle and try to give it to him or get his pacifier. He always looks at me so proud when he knows he's doing something nice, but don't try to help him with the bottle. He'll say "No! I do it!" Well okay then. He loses interest pretty quick anyway. And don't worry I'm always watching these good deeds take place. I'm not about to leave them both in the same room unattended. I'm sure Karson would be fine, but I can just see me walking back in the room and Karson carrying Kamden to me or something.

Oval
I've been working with Karson on his shapes lately. He has a shapes DVD that we watch and I've been helping him do a shapes puzzle while I nurse Kamden. Monday night Aunt Kris stopped by. I knew she'd be impressed with the shapes puzzle so I got it out. The triangle was missing, but rather than find the missing piece right then I decided I'd do it later. I put the puzzle pieces next to the puzzle and had Kris tell him which shape to find. Pentagon, Octagon, Oval, Circle, Square, and Rectangle. He found them all and I could tell Kris was impressed. Then he yells, "Where's the triangle!" Now Kris is really impressed. Karson and I go find the triangle and come back to the puzzle. Now we have Karson pick out a puzzle piece and tell us what it is. He gets them right again. He's so smart.
Tuesday Karson leads me to the pantry and points to peanuts. So I put some peanuts in a small dish and let him eat them at the counter while I'm picking up the kitchen. All of a sudden he exclaims, "OVAL!!" and holds up a peanut. That smart little stinker really knows his shapes and not just the pieces of the puzzle. Later, we were watching something on TV that had stars on it and Karson runs up and points at the TV and says Star. I can't believe it!!! Now, I'm going to start working on letters and numbers so people really think he's smart.
Another Karson funny...I will count to three and he will run to the back door and then I count to three again and he'll run back. Well, the other day I decided to count in Spanish. Uno, Dos, Tres. Karson just smiled and ran to the back door. Then, I counted in English. One, Two, Three. Karson says, "No, Dora." He wanted me to count in Spanish like Dora. What a funny kid.

First Big Bad Mommy Moment with Kamden
On a pissed off note, the hospital I delivered Kamden at has just lifted the no kids ban. So in the three week span I had Kamden they didn't allow siblings and now they do. I am livid about this. I want to go to the higher ups at the hospital's house and burn all the pics of their children together in the first three days of life and see how they like having that memory taken. Grrr!!! Something I will never be able to get back and there is nothing I can do about it. I guess I'll just go kick rocks.

Back to Work
I was more than ready to return to work. The boys have been wearing me out!! Work is like a vacation. It helps that my daycare lady knows our "system" and is here in town same as me. Also, only working three days a week makes for plenty of time with my boys.
Kamden is three weeks old and doing great. He is an easy baby so far (knock on wood). He only cries when he's hungry and even then I wouldn't call it crying so much as grunting. Dustin keeps trying to make things quiet and dark. I tell him to knock it off, Karson can be screaming and I can be vacuuming all while Kamden is sitting in direct sunlight and it never seems to affect him. I really don't want Kamden to become a light sleeper.
Karson is a fantastic big brother. He comes running whenever Kamden cries. Karson likes it when his baby is happy and so do I. For the most part Karson ignores the baby. When I'm nursing Kamden, Karson knows I'm not going to get up and he takes advantage of this time. He drags all his toys out and does things he knows he's not supposed to because he knows I'm not going to stop him. One of these days I'm going to pretend to nurse Kamden and I'm going to jump up and put Karson in time out. That ought to show him!!
Karson is getting so big. We've been working on his colors. He knows the basic ones, but he knows them by character. For instance, Red is Elmo (because we say red like Elmo), Green is Percy, Blue is Thomas, Orange is Grandma's pop, White is just White, Black is just Black, and Yellow is like a duck (rubber duck). Karson is to funny. We were driving down the road yesterday when I passed a semi. Karson says big truck Thomas. Yes, it was a big blue semi. So smart, kind of. He also is talking a ton. When I pump for Kamden, Karson will say, "Milk out baby" (milk out for baby). Most of the time you can understand what he wants, even if you won't let him have it.
All in all we're getting along just fine. Dustin doesn't want me to go back to work, but I need to get out of the house and away from the kids. I love my boys, but I can appreciate them more when I get a break.

It's a Boy!!! (Birth Story)
I had been having contractions for a couple of weeks, but nothing really painful or consistent. So, by the time our scheduled induction rolled around I was more than ready. On the morning of October 19 Dustin and I rounded up our things, picked up my mom, dropped Karson off at daycare, and headed to Waterloo to meet Alisia for breakfast at Village Inn before all the excitement began.
We arrived at the hospital at 8:00 am to begin our induction. The first hour was spent getting settled in, getting blood drawn, and starting my antibiotics for Group B Strep. My contractions were 4 minutes apart and I was already 4 cm dilated and 75% effaced. At 9:00 we started pitocin. That brought my contractions closer together and much stronger.
Sometime between 10:30 and 11:00 I got my epidural and was very comfortable. At 11:45 I was 5 cm dilated and the Dr broke my water. Then the nurse left to go eat lunch before things started happening. About 1:00 I started feeling contractions low in my stomach. With each contraction I could feel water gushing. I decided to just wait for my nurse to come back and let her know what I was feeling. In the mean time I kept pushing my button to up my epidural.
My nurse, Lindsey, came back at about 1:30 and asked if anyone had checked on me. I said no and she said she had gotten caught up helping set up a c-section and figured someone would have checked on me. I told her it was no big deal and told her what I was feeling. When she went to check me my bed was soaked so she changed the sheets. Then she checked me and I was fully dilated and the head was right there.
The nurse called for my Dr, who was in a c section. Dr. Rellihan arrived at about 1:45 and had me do a practice push. I hardly started to push and she says STOP, STOP!! The head was already coming out. She said don't laugh or cough and turned around to put her gloves on while the nurses removed the end of the bed. Dustin later told me he was afraid to leave the foot of the bed because the head was half way out.
Dr Rellihan was ready to deliver the baby and told me to push. I felt the head "pop" out and then the body. I don't think the feet were even out and Dustin yelled "Oh, it's a boy!!" At 1:51 pm Kamden Nile was born weighing 8 lbs 5.4 oz and was 21.75 inches long. His head was 14 inches and his chest was 13.5 inches.
Just before I delivered Kamden, Alisia arrived at the hospital and ended up being in the room for the delivery. We spent an hour trying to figure out what to name our little bundle. Everytime we mentioned Kamden he responded so we went with it.

H1N1 Can Bite My A$$
I have calmed down considerably since I heard the news yesterday. The news that my hospital will not be allowing anyone under 15 years of age onto it's premises. Normally this wouldn't bother me, but I'm having a baby in 3 days and I want my son to meet his sibling while we're at the hospital!! I feel like I'm being robbed of that picture of the big brother holding the baby in the hospital bed with mom. Silly I know, but I've been waiting to see Karson's reaction to this little one since the day I found out I was pregnant!!!
I'm really mad because I asked this very question (about hospital vistor policy changing due to H1N1) at one of my last OB visits and the Dr kind of laughed like she'd never heard of such a thing. Then, lo and behold it happens. Grrr!!! I tried to call my OB's office to complain, but they transferred me to labor and delivery. I'm currently waiting on a call back from the manager. I've heard of exception being made at other hospitals, like siblings wearing a mask until they get to the room. I'm going to push for this. To top it off my regular OB is on vacation until Monday so I can't even get her to back me on this.
I was up all night thinking about this. If I wasn't so close to having this baby I would consider switching OB's and delivering at a different hospital. If I had more time to explore my options I certainly would. This sucks. I'm days away from giving birth and I feel like my life has been turned upside down. I bit dramatic maybe, but I've been planning this whole sibling meeting in my head for 9 months!!! I wasn't worried about Karson because I thought I'd get to see him daily. Now I won't be able to see him for 3 or more days. I'm seriously considering asking for an early discharge from the hospital. Can you imagine Karson's reaction when he hasn't seen his mom for a few days and then she comes home with a new person!!! If that's not asking for trouble I don't know what is. I had this transition all figured out in my head and now I'm just going to show up at home with a baby and rock Karson's world.
Sorry for the Vent. I could go on for days about this. I guess I'm just going to sit here and wait for my call back from L&D. Wish me luck.

Poop Is Exciting
Poop is always kind of funny and gross, but when you have small children poop is such a big deal. As in, Karson pooped on the potty and it was a BFD (Big Fricking Deal). We had to call and let everyone know. Now, if he would only continue to poo on the potty we'd be in business. He has started to tell me "I pooped" as soon as he has gone in his diaper. Sometimes he even lays down to be changed right away. Like, I'm dirty somebody change me.
Poop will also be very exciting when we finally have this new baby. Baby poop is always inspected. When you pick baby up from daycare your usually informed of all the baby's pooing through out the day and you couldn't be more thrilled. Weird yes, but if you are a parent you will totally understand.
On the baby front, I am currently 2-3 cm and 50% effaced. I have contractions here and there, but nothing real painful or consistent. We will be having the baby Monday if I haven't gone into labor on my own. So only about 5 more days and we'll find out if Karson has a little bother or a little sister. I am so ready!!! Yet so not!!! My next post should be a baby announcement!!!!!!!!

The Baby is Coming
Had a fairly busy weekend. Went tailgating at Kevins for the UNI game. UNI won big time. Karson was actually very good and didn't even have a nap. Went to church and watched the Bears game on Sunday. Monday Dustin was still home due to his back so we took Karson to McDonalds to play. I figure this was probably our last "Karson only" trip. Next, time the baby will get to come too.
This morning I installed the baby's carseat and Karson thought it was great!! He kept saying baby, baby. I told him baby will get to ride in the car with us very soon. Karson is in for such a rude awakening. He is going to be a great big brother once he realizes that the baby is here to stay.

Naked Scootering
Last night we decided to give Karson a bath earlier than normal so we could watch a movie. So Dustin made supper while I bathed Karson. After Karson got out of the bath we came downstairs to put on his diaper and pajamas. Well, Karson did not want to put on his diaper and pajamas. He wanted to ride his scooter nude. I decided to get out the camera and tape the whole ordeal. So I now have a fantastic video of Karson Scootering around the house naked with a helmet on. It's great!!! I can't wait till he's 16 and I can show his girlfriend. I would post it on Facebook, but I don't want to get kiddie porn charges.

...and Life Happens
So, what I thought was going to be a very productive weekend turned into to a okay-we-got-something-done weekend. Saturday morning Dustin was going to get started on the baby's room. We got up and made pancakes and were ready to start our day. Then, the phone rings. My Dad broke a pipe and needed Dustin to come fix it. So off he goes...We end up eating lunch at my Mom and Dad's, then I brought Karson home for a nap and left Dustin to finish his fixing.
About the time Karson wakes up Dustin gets home. We already had plans for a 'final' date before life gets to hectic. So, we just started getting ready to go out. Mom picked up Karson and we left. Had a nice little date. Dinner and a movie with a little shopping thrown in there. So nothing productive happened at our house.
Sunday we we're the Greeters at church and Dustin and Dad had to take offering. So we spent the morning at church. When we got home Dustin started in on the baby's room while I made lunch. He got a pretty good start on it before Karson went down for his nap and then he had to quit working so he didn't keep Karson up.
While Karson was sleeping Dustin decided to go outside and rake the back yard before the Bears game came on. He got most of the yard done before the game started and finished it after the game was over (Bears won!!).
Thinking this wasn't to bad since Dustin could work on the baby's room when he got a chance after work during the week, we figured we made decent progress this weekend at least having raked the yard and started on the baby's room.
Monday morning I get a call from Dustin saying he hurt his back at work and needs to go to the Dr. Ugh!!! What great timing. I'm sure the raking comes into play here. So we get him to the Dr and he is to take it easy for about 10 days!! When your wife is 9 months pregnant and you have a two-year-old taking it easy is not so much and option. So when I should be able to take it easy myself I'm the more capable right now and doing more than I intended.
Needless to say things are really not getting done now. We both sat on the couch yesterday after Karson had strewn popcorn across two rooms and debated on who was going to clean it up. It sat there overnight and eventually got swept up by Dustin. I would have done it, but he beat me to it.
So, all in all I'm just hoping I don't go into labor this week. I went to the OB Monday and am dilated to 2 cm now. When I would have been hoping this baby would come already, I am now hoping it will stay put for another week or two. Who would have thought...

Trucking Right Along
At my OB appointment yesterday I found out that I am 1 cm dilated already. I can hardly believe it. We also set an induction date of 10/19. We will have an ultrasound 10/6 to check the baby's size, but if it's smaller than expected we will wait and induce 10/23. My OB doesn't want me going past my 10/24 due date and that is fine by me. I really think (hope) I will go on my own this time. Dustin really wants to make the mad dash to the hospital. Don't ask me why. I'll probably give him the 'honey it's time' and he won't believe me.
We get to stay home this weekend so I hope the babies room will get worked on. The crib is all set up in our room so we don't HAVE to have the room finished. I've got everything done that I really, really wanted to get accomplished before this little one comes. We've got Karson's baby clothes washed (not put away since I don't know where they're going, but ready none the less). The car seat is out, I'll probably install it in the van in the next week or so. I've got my breast pump out and all of our bottles have been sterilized and put away. All in all I feel prepared. I can't believe I WILL have a baby in the house in no less than 3.5 weeks!!

Hand, Foot, and Mouth
While at Karson's 2 year well child check they discovered he had Hand, Foot, and Mouth. I thought he had just bitten his lip, but I guess not. He hasn't had any other symptoms. No fever or sores on his hands and feet. It's nothing you treat it just goes away on it's own. I'm sure he picked it up at daycare.
Dustin keeps saying he has mad cow disease. I guess they call mad cow hoof and mouth. Whatever.
Karson has not been back to his crib at all. I haven't gotten the crib out of his room yet, but only because we spent the weekend working on getting our room cleaned up so we can move Dustin's stuff into my closet and out of the babies room.
I don't think this baby will stay in much longer. I have just been feeling off lately. That may be because I know what to feel this time, but I'm not sure. The baby will come when it's ready I just really want to get all our ducks in a row.
Dustin and I got to have a mini-date last night. We went to see the GI Joe movie in Charles City. It was good, but the seats in the theater were soooo uncomfortable. You sit straight-up, almost leaning forward. Arrgh. They do rock back, but it takes a ton of effort to keep them back. That may have been our last outing until we have the baby. I guess only time will tell.

Karson is a Big Boy
Karson slept in his big boy bed last night! I am so happy this transition seems to be going smoothly. I moved his crib to the other side of his room and put his big boy bed where his crib was hoping sleeping in the same spot in his room would help. We made a big deal out of how cool his "Cars" sheets were and how cool the bed was. When it was time for bed I asked him which bed he wanted to sleep in, the crib or the big boy bed and he chose big boy. I laid him down said good night and that was that.
The previous night I laid with him in the bed for a few minutes then got up and left the room. He did not like that!! I was tired and didn't want to deal with it that night so I just put him in his crib. For nap time earlier in the day he chose the big boy bed, but I heard him upstairs jumping around so I went to check on him. He was still in bed, he was just having a grand ole time jumping and racing cars. I put him in his crib because he really needed his sleep.
If we can get through one week with no crib, I'm taking it out of his room so he can't fall back into the habit of sleeping in it. I'm not getting my hopes up because we had one good night, but I've got my fingers crossed he keeps it up. Now, if potty training would come this easily I'd be one happy Mama.

Nothing Like Skipping a Couple of Weeks
At my appointment Tuesday my OB decided to move my due date up about 2 weeks!!! I knew this was a possibility, but to have her actually do it made the day seem so close. Only 6 weeks left!!! We need to get our butts in gear. I stopped and bought the paint for the babies room and some diapers so we could start preparing. I can't believe this little one will be here before Halloween!! I'm so ready to be finished with this pregnancy, but so not ready for the baby to come. I can hardly wait to see if Karson will have a little brother or sister.
The reason for the move in due dates is because I have been measuring large. 2 weeks ahead since 20 weeks. My 20ish week ultrasound gave and estimated due date of 10/24 so that's what we're going with now.

Two-Years-Old Already!!
My little boy is turning two!!! I guess that means he's a big boy now!! We're gearing up for Karson's birthday party this weekend. All of our family is coming and a few of Karson's little friends. We're having walking tacos/tacos and CARS cake. Yummy! We couldn't have the party on Karson's actual birthday (Saturday) because Dustin, Grandpa, Jade, and Nick are going to the UNI vs Iowa game. We are having the party Sunday which works out well because then Gpa and Gma Chyma can come.
Last weekend, Dustin and I had a wedding. We went with some friends of ours and I got to be the DD (again). Even the groom said he'd drive me to the first 'drinking event' after the baby comes since I've such a good sport about driving everyone else. It really doesn't bother me to be the driver, we're all going to the same place anyway and I obviously won't be drinking.
While we were at the wedding Karson got to stay with Gma and Gpa. He had a slight mishap while playing outside and ended up with a huge scab on his nose and another on his forehead. It didn't seem to affect him much.
Karson and I have been sick this week. Karson brought a cold home from daycare and that on top of allergies has not been fun. I threw up before work on Wednesday and Karson stood beside me 'pretending' to throw up (gagging and coughing along with me). I probably would have thought it was cute if I hadn't been vomiting at the time. We are hoping Dustin doesn't catch it also.
Oh, and on top of being sick I had to go to the dentist on Tuesday to get a new crown put on. I had to have a root canal in July and have been dealing with a lovely temporary silver crown for the last month. I'm so happy to have the white one on. Dustin thought the silver tooth was hilarious and wanted me to carve my initials in it. I had to have a filing to so my mouth was sore from that. Not fun!!
That's what has been happening around here. I will update on the birthday party next week.

Karson's New Game
We've invented a new game at our house. Karson brings Dustin and I the pillows off the couch and then stands in the middle of the floor and waits for us to throw them at him. LOL. He will even count for us. He usually just says two and tries to hold up two fingers, but we know he wants us to count to three and then pummel him with pillows. If we don't 'wind up' quick enough he will run over and say 'put it up'. We then have to put the pillow over our head and wait for Karson to assume the position. Dustin and I have decided this is great, especially when Karson is having one of his days. We get to get out some aggression and Karson loves it!!!
On the baby front...Went to the OB Monday and did my glucose test. Haven't heard back on that yet, but am hoping no news is good news. I gained 9 lbs this month!!! The OB told me it was okay I still looked cute. LOL. I was waiting to get scolded and instead got a compliment. My grand total on weight gain so far is 24 lbs. For 30 weeks that's not to bad. Still have to gain more than 20 to be where I was when I had Karson. We'll see how close we get on that. Still measuring 2 weeks ahead, hope that means we can have this little one a bit earlier (assuming they are ready to come out). Had to go in Tuesday for Rhogam shot. That wasn't bad either.
Had a super busy weekend. We went to Dad's first football game as coach for Clarksville. They lost. :( Saturday Dustin had a Tae Kwon Do Tournament. That went well. He got first in board breaking and sparring. He got second by half a point in forms and the guy who beat him got Grand Champion in forms. Needless to say Dustin wasn't real happy. Sunday we went to Independence and put gutter guards on Grandma Kidd's roof. We got to relax a little in the evenings anyways. Hope this finds everyone happy and well. Till next time...

Karson's Birth Story
I decided I need to get this written down somewhere before this next baby comes so I don't get details mixed. So here goes...
It's Labor Day weekend and I'm entering my 39th week. Oh, how funny to be in labor on Labor Day everyone said. I would have been thrilled with laboring on Labor Day as long as it got the baby out!!! No such luck.
Tuesday September 4, the day after labor day I go in for my weekly OB appointment. My mom came with me just because we were so close to the end. The Dr checked me and I was 3 cm dilated and something like 80-95% effaced. I was good to go. Granted I had been dilating a cm a week since we started internals.
My due date was September 10, so I asked my OB when we would start taking about inducing labor. I just needed to know the last possible day that I would be pregnant. As long as I had a D-day I figured I could survive. OB proceeds to tell me she can induce me September 11 if I want. No I don't want!!! I don't want my baby to be born on the saddest day of the year by choice!! If it comes naturally that day so be it, but I am not choosing that day as my childs birthday.
Then, she checks with another OB in the practice and they are willing to induce me on September 12. I said okay lets do it, hoping I would go naturally before that, but at least knowing that was the last day I would be pregnant.
I am then hooked up to have a NST (non stress test). I'm so glad my mom is with me at this point because now I have someone to talk to during the test. After the test is done the nurse comes in and says my OB will induce me tomorrow if I want. TOMORROW!!!! I don't know if I want to have my baby tomorrow!!! I want to get the baby out of me, but I don't know if I want a baby tomorrow!!! (Still don't know what the test told them that made them want to induce me the next day. I think I was probably having mild contractions)
Of course I call Dustin right away and he says the same thing. TOMORROW!!!! Then he tells me it's my choice if I want to wait until September 12 or have a baby tomorrow September 5. Thanks a lot. Your such a help.
Ideally Dustin wants the whole rushing to the hospital scenario to play out. I however do not. The hospital is an hour away. What if we don't make it in time? What if I'm at work and Dustin doesn't get there in time? My mom had fast labors and that worried me.
So, the nurse puts us on the schedule for tomorrow, September 5, with instructions to call if we decide not to go through with it.
Mom and I get and the car and start discussing all the pros and cons. The only con for me was missing the whole 'Honey it's time' moment. The pros were biggies, like knowing we'd make it to the hospital, knowing Dustin would be there, I wouldn't be pregnant anymore, etc.
After letting everything sink it I decided to go for it. Lets have the baby tomorrow!!! We made plans to leave early and go to I
HOP for breakfast with Mom and Dad. I knew I wasn't going to be able to eat all day so I decided to at least have my 'last meal'.
At IHOP I remember the waitress asking when I was due and telling her today!! I'm having my baby today!!! As soon as I leave here!!! How exciting!! That was that and we left and got to the hospital at 8 am.
We checked in and did all the usual stuff changed into a gown, gave my medical history, got my IV put in and blood drawn. That was it we were having a baby!
Fast forward to lunch time and Dustin and Dad were hungry. Things were still fairly slow at this point so they leave and go to Lone Star to eat. Dustin had this Lone Star thing planned fairly early on in the pregnancy. Something about while your in labor your dad and I will need to eat so we'll go to Lone Star since it's by the hospital. Yeah, so's McDonalds and Burger King, but whatever.
Anyway, while the boys are gone I start feeling pretty intense contractions and the OB decides to break my water. Before they break my water I get my epidural. I am so glad I did. I felt all of about 4 hard contractions, but they came on quick. By the time the anesthesiologist got there I couldn't talk through the contractions. I got my epidural and they broke my water all while Dustin was gone. He missed some of the 'milestones' of labor, but he was full and happy.
I think at this point I am at about 6 cm. So, now that I am happy and comfy we just settle in and start watching TV. Sometime around 4 or so people start arriving at the hospital. Kim and Kris got out of school early so they bring Grandma Jane down to partake in the festivities. Dustin parents make it too. Jade and Alisia come sometime around 5:30 or so.
I think at about 4:30 I started to feel pressure and told my nurse. She said my OB was just going in to do a twin c-section. So what does my nurse do? She turns down my pitocin to slow my contractions down. Nobody even checks to see how far dilated I am!
Fast forward to 6:00 pm and my OB is back and checks me. I am 10 cm dilated. No kidding!! I probably have been for and hour. Time to start pushing. They get the room set up and all my visitors leave the room.
My mom and Dustins mom stay by my head and my dad is in the room also, but over by the door where he can see what's going on, but not down south. I believe they had just the curtain drawn and the door open so my family waiting outside could hear what was going on.
I think Sports Center was on TV and I told someone to change the channel so my baby wasn't born while watching Sports Center. Dustin changed the channel and we ended up watching The Simpsons (his favorite show). Whatever it's better than Sports Center.

I start pushing, but my contractions are so spaced out (due to turning down the pitocin at 4:30) that I would push a little watch TV a little. My OB decided to go eat supper. What! I'm having a baby and your going to go eat after already putting me off for C-section. GRRR!!! She ended up knowing what she was talking about since she made it back in plenty time.
My nurse had me push while having contractions and relax when I wasn't. This was going fine. Then she said the baby wasn't staying down between contractions and was sliding back up. It just can't be easy can it. She also informs us that he is coming out facing my leg instead of facing the floor. Thus I am trying to push out the largest part of his head at the worst possible angle. Anyway, OB comes back and I remember King of the Hill coming on. I don't particularly like this show, but remember watching it some. A few more pushes and Karson is here at 6:36 pm
My OB was shocked at how big he was 9lbs, 2.8oz, and 22 inches long. Ummm...I told you I was incredibly uncomfortable, hence the induction.
They put him on my chest and let Dustin cut the cord. Then took him over to weigh him, take his measurements, and clean him up some. By now the curtain has been pushed back so all my family in the hall can see him. What an awesome experience for them. Grandma Jane talked about it for weeks. She couldn't believe they got to be such a part of his birth.

At this point I haven't eaten in about 12 hours and I am starved. Guess what? The kitchen closes at 7:00 pm. By the time I was able to think about food the kitchen was closed. GRRR!!! So my mom runs to Burger King and grabs me a Whopper. YUM. It tasted so good. Thanks Mom!
I'm sure there are plenty of details I'm leaving out since it happened almost 2 years ago, but that is the gist of it. Welcome to the world Karson Daniel, I couldn't imagine my life without you.
Lets Try This Again
Well, I tried this when Karson was born and obviously didn't keep up with it. This time around I have a much more relaxed job and may actually be able to keep up with it. I will shoot for AT LEAST one entry per week. Hopefully more.
I am currently 29w3d pregnant with number 2. I personally think we are having another boy. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I feel huge and am ready to be done. To bad I've got at least 8 more weeks to go. I'm sure the time will fly by. I can't wait to meet this little person and see how Karson interacts with the baby. Should be interesting.
Karson is such a little boy now. No more baby here. He will be 2 in two weeks. I can hardly believe it. He is into all the usually boy stuff. Cars, trains, helicopters, and anything that involves a ball. He'll even watch baseball and football on TV!! His Grandpa is so proud.
Speaking of Grandpa, we are going to his first football game at his new school. Go Clarksville!!! This will be a new experience for us as it is 8 man football. I didn't even know this existed. I don't expect Karson to last long, but there will be 3 people (Grandma, Dustin, and I) to keep him entertained. I think Dad (Grandpa) is really excited and very optimistic. We'll see how he feels after tonight. LOL!!
Dustin has a Tae Kwon Do tournament and a Break-A-Thon this weekend in New Hampton. Should be interesting. I hope he doesn't break anything. Well I hope he breaks boards just not bones.
Nothing else to report on this week. I will update next week on my OB appointment. I have to do my 1 hr Glucose Test and hope I pass so I don't have to do the 3 hr fasting test. Have a great weekend!!!
