What color?

What color siding should we go with?

Currently the house is painted pretty much exactly the same as the blue-ish color, with white trim.  While I don't mind it, I don't love it.

Three of the houses Dustin has finished recently have been this same blue-ish color.  He really likes it on the new houses, but is ready for a change on ours.

I'm leaning towards the greenish-brown-tan color.  It doesn't look that green until you hold it up next to the brown.  We like the darker colors, they contrast nicely with the white trim.

I like this one...Arbor Blend.  There is a house in town that is this color (we ran up to it with the sample) and I really like it.

It sounds like we are going to buy a quart of paint in each of these colors and paint a section of the house or garage (which will need to be painted anyway) and see what we like in a bigger quantity.

This a big decision and I'm so scared I'm going to regret whatever color we choose.  Gah!!!

Kamden's getting tubes

Poor Kamden can't catch a break.  I'm pretty sure he's had an ear infection pretty much all his life.

We took him to an ENT when he was about 7 months old.  That ENT said we could do tubes or wait and see.  We opted to wait and see.  Here we are now, with a 15 month old who either has an ear infection or is recovering from an ear infection at any given moment.

So Valentines Day K-Dog and I will be going to visit a different ENT at a different (read better) hospital.  I'm pretty sure we'll be scheduling the procedure shortly after that.

I'm nervous.

On a more positive note...Kamden is growing like a weed!  He is catching up to Karson.  Karson was always in the 99th percentile or more.  Kamden got real tall all of a sudden and hit the 95th percentile.  Up from 70%.  Woo-hoo.

The official stats for Kamden's 15 month appointment are:

27 Pounds
32.5 Inches
8 Teeth

Life after kids...

Lately I've noticed just how little I can relate to childless friends.  Or rather how little they can relate to me.

We went out for dinner and drinks with a friend from out of town on Friday.  At one point, she told us we were great birth control.  I was a little put off.  My kids may annoy the shit out of me, but I wouldn't trade them for anything.  EVER!  They may make certain things in life harder than I ever imagined (grocery shopping, eating at restaurants, church), but they can certainly make-up for all the trials and hardships with one little smile.

People without kids can never know how rewarding they are until they have their own.  It's just not possible.  You may think kids are cute or funny, but until it's your own child you will never understand the love and connection that is there.

Everything is awesome through your childs' eye's.  I have never been so happy to count to 20 or sing the ABC's.  Plus, the things that come out of their mouths are pure comic gold.  Every time your child learns something new it's so freaking exciting I can't even put it into words.

What I'm trying to say is that I find myself growing closer to my mommy-friends and farther from my kidless-friends.  Let's face it, as a mom, especially a mom to young kids, everything in your life revolves around your children.  Friends that don't get the whole mom thing, don't get me.

Disclaimer - I don't think this really applies to those that are in family-mode with no kids.  There is a difference between wanting-kids-in-the-near-future and kids-are-not-on-my-radar-yet.

The things mom's do

When Karson poops it's like a little party in the bathroom.

He wants me to stay in there with him. So, Kamden naturally has to come in and make sure he isn't missing out on in anything.

The other night while Karson was doing his business, I got tired of waiting (the kid has a way of making everything as drawn out as possible).  I went into the kitchen to mess around until he was finish and , uh-hmm, needed my assistance.

Karson started screeching and Kamden comes running out of the bathroom.  I go in to find Karson flipping-the-fuck-out.

Kamden had dropped a golf ball and a car in the lovely pee-poop soup in the toilet.  G-R-E-A-T!

I get Karson cleaned up and consult with Dustin on what to do next.  All the while Karson is just losing it over his stuff in the toilet.

I told him it was his fault for letting Kamden throw it in.  Mind you Karson was sitting on the toilet when said objects got thrown in.

Dustin wanted to use kitchen utensils and I said no way in hell are you using something we eat off of to dig in the toilet.

So, Dustin goes downstairs to rig up some tool craziness to get the toys out of the pee-poop soup in the toilet.

While he's down there I say screw it.

Get this.

I reached in and grabbed the golf ball and car!!!!

Luckily they were on top of the mess so it wasn't so bad.

You can give me the Mom of the Year Award now.  Thanks!

Dustin was so pissed I didn't let him prove his tool manliness to get crap out of the toilet.  Don't worry honey I'm sure this is only the beginning.

Would you help Noah?

For Christmas Karson got the Spark Bible that goes along with his Sunday School curriculum.  At first we would just open it to a page and read that story.  Then, I decided it made more sense to get a bookmark and read it from cover to cover.

Which takes us to last night.  We were reading about Noah and the flood.  We talked about animals, boats, and rainbows.  At the end of every story there is a question that correspondse to the story.  Last night went like this:

Me: What would you think if God asked you to build an ark?

Karson:  I can't.  I've only got one hammer.

Me:  Well, would you build a boat if God gave you another hammer?

Karson:  Yep.

Me:  What would you say to God?

Karson:  I like rainbows.

The conversation was much funnier than this, but that's all I can remember.

Then, there's Kamden.  This kid is going to give me a run for my money.  Karson has an attitude and is dramatic, but Kamden is just crazy.  He's going to be my first broken bone and stitches.  Kamden climbs on everything.  Which wouldn't be as big of a deal if he had any coordination at all.

Kamden's latest favorite hang out.

Yes that's the sub-woofer he's standing on. If I put anything on top of it he'll toss it across the room. And while you're looking at this, should I paint that wall behind him brick red? I've had a paint sample taped to the wall for 3 years. The rest of the room is a taupe color. This is the only room in the house that hasn't been painted.

Kamden figured out that he can use the baseboard to get himself up into the window seat.  Then, Karson showed him that you could hang from the window.  Awesome.  I pulled the blinds up when Kamden started to climb up there.  Now I have to pull them all the way up or they rip the slats (this was before I realized I had to get them way out of their reach).

And a video of me telling Kamden to get down.  He obviously knows what I'm asking of him.

Everyone must be doing it...

I just attempted to make a new blog under a completely different name and email.

Every. Single. Name. Is. Taken.

I thought I had a super creative name and it was taken.

So I racked my brain some more.

Taken.

Then, I tried random things.

Taken.

Poop.  STFU.  Mamalamadingdong.  Lynsey.  Chyma (this was great, she's an asian hooker).  Clevernamehere.  Anonymous.  Re-diculous.

They all exist.

I was going to start a new blog with complete anonymity.  I just wanted to write about completely random things.  This blog isn't searchable.  The new blog would have been.

This blog may become what that blog would have been.  I may just start writing about whatever I'm thinking about on any given day.

Don't judge.

This may become a celebrity gossip blog.  Who knows.  LOL

Or maybe a cloth diaper blog or a crunchy blog.  Or dare I say a coupon blog.

I'm going to try to take more pictures and write about more stuff.  Not just kid updates, although you'll still see those too.

I really want to be brutally honest about stuff.  I like those blogs the best.  I want to show my house in all it's nasty-ness.  My kids at their worst, me at my worst, my marriage at it's worst.  All those things at their best too.

So hold on.  This could get intersting.  It just depends on how brave I get.  Woot-woot!

Humpday Happenings 1/5

Some pictures from our Christmas adventures::

Christmas morning, not sure exactly what is going on here.

This one is mine it says Karson, it has a K and an O.

Typical Kamden, bottle and a blanket (this bottle habit is a tough one to break).

Hamming it up.

Take a picture of Victor Mom! This is the one toy he really, really wanted for Christmas.

Candy Cane fun at Gma Chyma's

Post candy cane. Clean face, crazy sticky hair.

Our first back-to-normal-day after Christmas...A week and a half later.

I thought we might get our first stitches yesterday.  The bleeding stopped after while thank goodness.

Hope you enjoyed your Holidays!!!
